Attendance Matters - Twelve Days of Christmas

Dear Parent/Carer,

At Aberdare Community School, excellent school attendance is one of our top priorities.  We are keen to encourage all pupils to take advantage of every teaching and learning opportunity available to them at the school and in order for that to happen it is important they are here.

With this in mind, I would like to draw your attention to an event which is important to us. Between 6th and 21st of December, we would like every pupil to be present at school.  If you have made medical or dental appointments during this period, we kindly ask that you make every effort to rearrange these if possible. If not, please ensure that your child only misses the minimum amount of time and not a whole morning or afternoon.

Our goal is to give every pupil a raffle ticket when they arrive in school on the 6th of December and there will be opportunities each day to win prizes. However, the prize will only be awarded to pupils who are present that day. As you know, your child should be in school every day but every effort should be made to ensure 100% attendance during these 12 days.

During This period we will also be collaborating with RCT Attendance and Wellbeing Officers. If any child is absent without authorisation or we are not informed by 10am on the day of absence of the reason why a child is absent from school, an officer will be in contact with the home. Also, Attendance Officers will be holding “meet and greet” sessions at the school entrance for pupils who arrive late to school during the same period.

We appreciate your continuing support in helping your child achieve excellent attendance.  If you wish to discuss any attendance related issues, please do not hesitate to contact me or our Attendance Officers, Mrs. Sian Williams and Mrs. Debbie Allen.

Kind regards,

Mrs. Emma Harris
