Tough Brothers Raffle

At Aberdare Community School two of our pupils, Garyn Tough and Cian Tough are soon to be receiving some very serious medical treatment.

The boys have a very rare blood condition called Wiscott Aldrich syndrome that can cause serious health issues as they get older, lung problems, excessive bleeding and the most serious blood cancers.

Cian will be the first of the twins to receive any treatment starting in May at a specialist hospital In Newcastle with Garyn following in September. The treatment will be an op for a Hickman line which will remain in place for some months followed by chemotherapy and a stem cell transplant.

The procedure means that Cian and Garyn will have to be in isolation in the Newcastle hospital for 3-6 months and remain in isolation at home for possibly a year depending on their recovery.

We will be running and Easter raffle in the hope to help the family with the financial burden that such a huge process will bring.

If you would like to donate it would be greatly appreciated.

Llangrannog

Mae Blwyddyn 7 a’r Adran Gymraeg wedi cael amser ffantastig ar y daith Llangrannog ar y penwythnos. Year 7 and the Welsh department had a fantastic time on the Llangrannog trip on the weekend and staff said it was a pleasure to see learners enjoying themselves and immersing themselves in the Welsh language. Diolch yn fawr to Miss Dummett, Miss Williams a Ms Power and the Year 12 helpers for their time this weekend. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Welsh in the Workplace

Last Wednesday we held a Welsh in the Workplace Carousel Event organised by Miss Dummett and Jo from Careers Wales. Year 10 and 11 learners had the opportunity to meet a range of different employers and learn about how Welsh will be a huge advantage for them in whichever careers they decide to pursue. It was a fantastic day and the employers commented on how polite, well-mannered, mature and respectful all of the learners who participated were. They were a credit to ACS! Diolch yn fawr to all involved. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿
